DICK WHITBECK's versatility as a musical director was developed through
vast experience as a music producer, composer, arranger, conductor, and
trumpet player working in theater, nightclubs, the concert stage, recording
studios and on the "corporate entertainment scene".
He became Musical Director for the world renowned Guthrie Theater at
age 24 - the youngest musical director ever for the Guthrie. During his
12 years as musical director, he composed original scores for over 25
productions from "King Lear" to "A Streetcar Named Desire".
Concurrent with his work for the Guthrie, Mr. Whitbeck became Resident
Conductor and Music Contractor for the Carlton Celebrity Room where he
provided music support for some of the biggest names in show business
history: Tony Bennett, Bob Hope, Gladys Knight, Johnny Mathis, Smokey
Robinson, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Wayne Newton, Don Rickles, Jerry
Lewis and Loretta Lynn to name just a few.
Dick has also composed, arranged, and produced music for television and
radio commercials. His credits include Betty Crocker, Dinty Moore, Old
Dutch Potato Chips, Pillsbury, Levi's, Northwest Airlines and many more.
Dick created the "house bands" for Rupert's Nightclubs in
Minneapolis, St. Louis and Atlanta and was Rupert's Musical Director
for 10 years.
Whitbeck's diverse experience, musical skills and inexhaustible attention
to detail has been an asset to party planners and event producers across
the globe.
"As if arranging, directing and playing
great music was not enough, you also handled speaker introductions and
interacted with VIPs and our guest M.C. This added yet another dimension
to the value that you and SYNERGY brought to the show. It sure takes
the worry out of producing a top-notch show when you are on the team."....
